Welcome from the Headteacher

I have been Headteacher here at Rye Hills for one year now and have thoroughly enjoyed working in partnership with staff, governors, parent/carers, students and the local community.

We launch the new academic year with some significant and exciting changes: new logo, uniform, website and prospectus. Thanks to all involved in the consultation and implementation process. Our new image shows our determination and commitment to strive for excellence and provide the best learning opportunities for your children.

Thank you for taking an interest in our school. We recognise that choosing a secondary school is one of the most important decisions parent/carers and children will ever make. Schools are in the privileged position of helping to shape young peoples’ lives and at Rye Hills we take this responsibility very seriously.  All staff work very hard to ensure that students are happy, safe, have fun and cared for. We believe that teaching should inspire and enthuse so that children develop a life-long love of learning. We also believe that every child is entitled to a personalised, supported learning pathway which ends in success.

For the last five years standards have risen at Rye Hills, with this year being the most improved. We are extremely proud of our students as 80% of them left with at least five good GCSEs and 63% including English and maths. They leave us as more confident, caring and responsible young people, ready for the next phase of their lives.

We value a strong partnership between home and school, considering parent/carers to be an integral part of our learning community. We therefore welcome and appreciate your contribution to school life. We share the same aim – to enable your children to reach their full potential.

We hope that you find the website informative and interesting, giving you a flavour of life at Rye Hills. If you would like further information or would like to visit the school, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to oblige.

Kind Regards

Neil Appleby
