Booked Up 2011

On December 8th and 9th all year 7 pupils received a free book as part of the Booked Up Scheme. Booked Up is a national programme that aims to give a free book to every child starting secondary school in England. The programme is run by the national charity Booktrust.

Booked Up’s goal is to encourage reading for pleasure and independent choice. Year 7 students choose their free book from a list of specially selected titles. This year the books on offer were:

  • Big Nate The boy with the biggest head in the world by Lincoln Pierce
  • Little Bo-Peep has Knickers that Bleep by Laurence Anholt
  • Frankie Foster by Jean Ure
  • You Choose by Nick Sharratt
  • The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward
  • Kick Off by Dan Freedman
  • Why is Snot Green? By Glenn Murphy
  • How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell
  • Mortlock by Jon Mathew
  • Dead Man’s Cove by Lauren St John
  • The Name of the Book is by Pseudonymous Bosch
  • Don’t You Dare Dragon by Annie Kubler
  • Pumpkin Grumpkin by John Agard
  • Artichoke Hearts by Sita Brahmachari
  • Boffin Boy and the Wizard Edo by David Orme
